What's Panda?
8-bit Panda is a user group for passionate students of computer science and young hackers in Riga (Latvia), with academic and industrial support.
We get together a few times a week and discuss all kinds of computer science topics. The range is broad, from the depths of abstract algebra and monadic calculus to current state of the art in software development.
There is an introductory course as well, where newcomers are taught essential programming concepts using fun approaches, such as computer graphics. A presentation of this course is held for first-years every september.
Upcoming Events
All upcoming Panda events appear in the group calendar. It is viewable online and available in the popular iCalendar format.
Most events are course lectures, some are themed meetups. Occasionally, Panda invites someone interesting from the industry to share his or her experience.
Each year Panda helps the organization of an international intensive programme called “DOSSEE”. TTI students and Panda regulars are travelling abroad to build open source software with peers from other European countries in an intensive fashion. Yearly DOSSEE presentation and admission takes place in mid-october in TTI.
If that's not enough for you, there are plenty of tech events happening in Latvia each week. Check out this page for more.
